We have been working on our multiplication and division unit. As a way to wrap up multiplication and transition into division the kids decided they wanted to make posters of their favorite strategies. I took out a deck of multiplication cards, fanned them out, and let each child chose the fact that they would represent. You would have thought I was giving out extra recess time with the level of excitement in the room.
Aren't they cute?! They didn't take much prep work, just a little creativity!
Later in the week I introduced the concept of dividing using The Doorbell Rang by Pat Hutchins. The students chose which snack they wanted to use and went to work figuring out how to divide the "cookies" among the friends in the story.
This week we also had a little in school field trip fun. The local museum came to visit our classroom to teach us about the water cycle and the soil. I LOVE trips! Especially when they come to me!
Martin Luther King, Jr. is one of the influential people that we study each year, we actually already studied him earlier in the year. A few of the girls suggested that we have a celebration on his birthday since it was a school day. I'm always up for a celebration!

Have a productive MLK, Jr. Day and continue to follow the dream!
