March was a busy month! It sure came in like a lion, but I'm not sure it went out like a lamb.
We have spent the last month really sharpening our writing skills. In learning about reading nonfiction and determining importance, we also took the time to learn about report writing. Each student had the opportunity to research an animal of interest to them and collect the information necessary to report and share their knowledge.
Going into this I really didn't know what our final product would look like but along with the kids we came up with these.
I had no idea that they would come out so adorable but I like it!
I am so proud of the young authors in my class!
Our next project to tackle is to use the research we did to write a fiction story about our animals/insects because of course writers need to use research to write. We used the book A Pig Parade is a Terrible Idea as our mentor text.
We are currently in the process of finishing those books.
I'll be sure to post those after they are officially published. :)
